Don’t Ignore These Symptoms

Headache can be a symptom of a serious medical illness. Fortunately this is not commonly the case.

However, if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you must seek urgent medical assessment.

  • Headache following recent trauma (e.g. hit to head at sport).
  • Headache accompanied by loss of co-ordination, confusion or decreased alertness.
  • Headache accompanied by numbness or tingling, loss of co-ordination, confusion.
  • A new or unusual headache.
  • A sudden headache.
  • A severe headache.
  • A persistent headache.
  • Headache associated with fever.
  • Headache aggravated by coughing, sneezing or stooping.
